Mike Davies graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London in 1976. He owned
his own veterinary practice for more than 11 years and has worked in academia (Veterinary Schools
at the Universities of London and Nottingham) and in the industry (Pet food and pharmaceutical
companies).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mike has postgraduate Certificates in Veterinary Radiology and Small Animal Orthopaedics and a
Diploma in Small Animal Clinical Nutrition as well as a special interest in Geriatrics (He published one
of the first books on Veterinary Geriatrics). He has published numerous papers in those fields, is an
RCVS Specialist in Small Animal Clinical Nutrition and is working as an independent consultant and
Managing Director of his own web-based company Provet Limited. He is also currently a part-time
Lecturer at the University of Surrey Veterinary School, and recently finished working with a startup
vegan pet food company Omni. He has worked as an Expert Witness on several occasions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mike has always been a very active member of the BSAVA and attended his first Congress when he
was a student in the 1970s. He has only missed a few Congresses when he was ill or away on
business. Positions he held include Secretary NW, Chairman NW, Chairman Midlands region,
Chairman East Midlands region, Regional Co-ordinator, Chair P& PR Committee, Chair International
Affairs Committee, Founder member Audit and Risk Committee. Historical Projects: Chair Carcase

Outside of the Veterinary Profession Mike has always been a keen sportsman representing the
University of London at Rugby and Athletics (Hammer) and the RVC at Rugby (Captain), Tennis and
Squash. After University he played Rugby at the highest level for a short period with Waterloo but
had to drop down a level when he started his own practice on the Wirral. He continued playing
competitive Rugby, Tennis and Squash until he had to quit at age 65 on medical grounds.
Other passions include music and he owns over 2000 vinyl LPs and 2000 78 records, various
instruments (keyboards, guitars, saxophone, e-drums) including a square piano from the 1850s. He also
collects Art \u2013 having an eclectic collection of paintings and other ephemera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
