Dr. Fergus Allerton, a University of Bristol graduate, is a dedicated leader in antimicrobial stewardship within veterinary medicine. After completing his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Liege, Fergus achieved diplomate status with the European College of Veterinary Medicine.
He now works at the Willows Referral Service, where he has been pivotal in advancing responsible antibiotic use through the PROTECT ME guidelines. Fergus also contributes to ENOVAT’s work on antibiotic recommendations for surgical settings and serves as the editor of Companion and the 10th and 11th editions of the BSAVA formulary.
Outside of veterinary work, Fergus is an Independent Visitor (IV) for Barnardo’s, a role he finds both impactful and rewarding. In his free time, he enjoys water polo and triathlon, hobbies that keep him both active and balanced.
