Jon is a rum enthusiast and an RSPCA Veterinarian. Jon and Julian went to vet college together in London, where Jon qualified in 1997.
His first job was in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, in a 5 vet surgery that had connections with the local RSPCA branch where he worked for 10 years. In 2008, He moved across town for his 2nd, and current, job to become a full-time RSPCA employee as the sole vet running the clinic.
You may have heard us mention these types of animals on Veterinary Ramblings before: they include hedgehogs, sugar gliders, and many other small furry friends – often called ‘exotic’.
But why do we call them exotic? Is this term really accurate? And what does it mean for owners of these animals?
