Manon Verijdt is a multipotentialite entrepreneur who grew up in a national forest in the Netherlands. Her passion for nature and wildlife began early – she still recalls rescuing mice caught by her cats – and has since evolved into a lifelong dedication to conservation and storytelling.

After studying Applied Biology, Manon explored sustainable design by developing concepts for tiny houses on former agricultural land before turning her focus toward writing and sustainable travel. In 2021, she founded Ubuntu Magazine – an international online publication sharing transparent, accessible stories from the frontlines of nature conservation.

Alongside her partner and their Nigerian rescue dog, Nimba, Manon travelled through Africa from 2022 to 2025, continuing to publish Ubuntu remotely throughout their journey.

A true multipotentialite, Manon’s passions include nature and wildlife, outdoor sports such as hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and paddleboarding, overland travel, writing, dogs, cooking, baking, singing, reading, photography, public speaking, gardening, and ceramics.

About Ubuntu Magazine

Founded in 2021, Ubuntu Magazine raises awareness of global nature conservation issues through fair, transparent, and accessible storytelling. Its mission is to bridge the gap between conservation work and the public by sharing real stories from those on the frontlines, inspiring readers to take action themselves. Guided by the philosophy “I am because we are,” Ubuntu aims to grow into a print publication while remaining freely available online to readers worldwide.
